ok the awnser

the x-shadow has been programmed with a flasher.
that flasher is not compatible with 1.6b
so i flashed the chip on a 1.4 xbox with a 1.6b bios
and put the chip back in the 1.6b
now it works

ms dash doenst work anymore
i think cause 1.6b loooks for a 1mb bios file and not a 256kb

but the mod works then

hi have you had any problems with the delay in booting with x shadow like some others, i am real tempted as the price is so low for these chips but the early post put me off
cheers

I think there is a strange situation with the 1.6b. I think these are the ones with the Hynix rams correct? B/c I have one right in front of me where the flash bios loads, and another where it doesn't, both with hynix rams... Or is there another way to tell 1.6 and 1.6b apart? Same problem with a spider chip :(

the only problem I'm having is that the eject button always turns the chip off.

This is correct. Same as alladin advance. The only way to start the console with chip on is by pressing POWER button for more than one second.

The problem is indeed the Bios version on the X-schadow.
When you installed it in a 1.6B version the display stays off.

The X-Box versions 1.6B has the HYNIX Rams.
If you can than you have to install the Linux cromwell 2.40 bios version on de chip.

You can download it here http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/xbox-linux/cromwell-2.40.tar.gz?download
You can use a older model box to flash you chip.
This bios version works on all models.

BOAS NMB ;)

but you can put the chip "always on", just ground the D0 point , the chip will always boot, but you can't turn it off ;)

NOTE: you only need to solder the lpc points and ground the d0, DON'T solder the cables that trun on and off the chip on power button

Hi, i have just purchased a X-Shadow chip (i ordered a Muppet-X but as long as it works i dont care) and ive got no idea how to use it, lol, no instructions came with it and i can find nothing for it on the web, i have connected it to my motherboard via a solderless adapter and ive got no idea how to tell if its doing anything, my solderless adapter is a Xapt3r with blue leds when no chip in, blue leds wen chip in and blue/red leds wen in bios flash mode, the Xapt3r is connected to D0 correctly, however the shadow dosnt seem to do anything, i tried installing EvoX using a CDRW but it gives the same error msg as it would with no chip, i was given with it a connecter with three wires for D0, BT L1 and L2 am i supposed to use this with a solderless adapter? ive tried connecting the connecter and connecting the wire to D0 and still nothing, it says the other wires are optional, and i connected the BT wire to D0 in error and it entered the bios flash mode but wouldnt read any CDRW's with EVOX M8 bioses on them, what the hell is going wrong? im not an idiot im a fully qualified network technician but this is confusing the hell outa me, i didnt even get instructions to tell me how to turn it on/off, theres no switch, HELP!
